Getting a business intelligence business analyst position in finance

I have a commerce graduate degree and I've been in financial institutions for more than three years now. I want to become a business intelligence (BI) business analyst but don't have any experience in BI. What I'd like to know is if I pursue an MBA in finance or MBA in management information systems (MIS) and learn BI externally upon completion of the MBA, can I get into BI analyst directly without work experience?

I expect the government to put regulations on financial institutions around risk and leverage. This will necessitate the need for more financial reporting and real-time business intelligence reporting. You may be able to leverage your financial market experience and your additional education experience into a BI job within a financial institution.
