The biggest ones that come to mind are extract, transform and load (ETL) software and other data management tools. They aren’t flashy and, as such, people tend not to get excited about these tools; instead, they focus on executive dashboards and OLAP tools. The problem is that without trustworthy, clean data and the ability to integrate information from various source databases via ETL processes, the dashboards and OLAP applications are worthless.
