Biggest analytics challenge: Results into actions

Proving that advanced analytics software is worth its weight in business gold remains the top analytics challenge within organizations, according to the survey. Forty-one percent of the 114 respondents with analytics programs in placed or planned said they expected tying data analytics results to business actions to be a big trial for them over the next year. And funding for analytics projects, up from 25% who said the same thing on last year’s survey.

And nearly one-third -- 31% -- cited difficulties in getting executive support and funding for analytics projects, up from 25% who said the same thing on last year’s survey.

Of course, business issues aren’t the only major challenges that businesses are facing with advanced analytics. Thirty-six percent of the respondents stated that building the data infrastructure required to support effective analytics is one of three top obstacles they were facing. Pulling data from multiple business applications and integrating it in real or near real time for analytics uses can produce interesting, and valuable, results -- but it’s challenging.
