How to buy a business intelligence (BI) platform

Ready to buy a business intelligence (BI) platform? Find out some key items to consider before purchasing BI software and how to turn your information into a corporate asset.

Are there warning signs in an organization which would indicate that the company isn't ready to buy a business intelligence (BI) platform, tool or software?
There are no insurmountable barriers to doing that, and it's absolutely necessary for survival in today's marketplace. Information is at the heart of the competitive battlefield and must be turned into a corporate asset. However, there definitely are several "upfront" items to be done before any BI software or hardware is purchased. These are part of the BI journey and include requirements gathering, organizing a BI team, architecture design, development of data governance policies, a data quality assessment, adoption of a BI methodology and, last but not least, planning the journey.
